 Yoni Chanowitz, Creative Director and Founder of J3D

         Twelve years ago I was working in customer sales at an electronics store, when they started to sell consumer models of 3-D printers. I asked my manager if I could be stationed by the machines to promote and sell them to customers, and to learn how they worked.

I have been sculpting with various materials since I was very young, eventually creating
and selling Judaica items. Learning to create digital models (a.k.a., rapid manufacturing)
was the next logical step for me.

Translating an idea from a digital computer model to an actual physical item has its own
set of challenges. I gained a lot of experience with CAD* and G-CODE* and became
very active in the 3-D printing community. It’s been an exciting process.

There are many Judaica stores that sell custom made leather tefillin bags. I realized
there was a niche in the market for finely made tefillin box cases as well, and within an
affordable price range.

In 2022, I created my first working 3-D tefillin case prototype. I continued to improve it
until I believed that I had a marketable one, that looked great, worked well, and at an
affordable price.

J3DDesign Tefillin Box Cases are unique because they are made on demand, with
multiple built-in colors to select from, and a choice of designs. We currently offer two
types of closures - the classic hinge closure, but thicker and stronger, and the MagFit
closure, a popular option.
